Charity Day 2023

WBC Charity Day 2023

Thanks to Dave Thomson for all the photographs and text.

The club's annual charity day took place on 10th September on a hot, probably too hot, and sunny day.

Members, families and friends took part in a variety of bowling challenges, putting, and in the clubhouse there were raffles, auctions, a cake stall, speed bingo and a constant supply of bacon rolls, coffees and teas served up by Graham and his team.

There was a triples match between members in the afternoon, and a dinner in the evening.

On such a hot day, the bar did a roaring trade throughout the day, run by John, Peter and helpers.

All proceeds of the day were in aid of SERV (Service by Emergency Response Volunteers) who provide a 365 days per year 24 hours per day emergency delivery service of blood products to hospitals, hospices etc throughout our region, and the club was pleased to welcome Ronnie and Roy from SERV to the club.

Total raised on the day will be posted on here when finalised.

During the charity day, members gathered on the green for the unveiling of the new Ware Bowling Club flag, purchased with a generous bequest from the late Judy Simms, a valued member for many years and who sadly passed away earlier this year.

Although not finalised, we look to have raised around £1250 for SERV, which is a superb effort by all members who helped organise the event, and by all the members with families and friends who came along to support the event.

A presentation to SERV will take place on 23rd September, before our final friendly of the season.
